Getting Rid of Books in Sioux Falls

Recycling Explained

Whether you’ve finally decided to part with your high school biology book from 1998 or that paperback romance novel you’ve read so many times it’s barely holding together and missing a few pages… You can recycle that! Just be careful which type you toss in the bin.

Sioux Falls Book Recycling:

Paperback (Soft Cover) books are accepted right in your single stream recycling bin if you have 2 or less at a time (phonebooks, paper back novels, workbooks, etc). Just make sure there is no spiral or metal binding, if so, remove that part and throw it in the trash. Only include the softcover and paper pages of the book.  Our recycling equipment will automatically sort this out with other paper to be baled and sent off to be made into a new paper product (If you MORE than 10 soft cover books to recycle, please see below for drop off details).

Hardcover books can be recycled, but NOT in your household or business single stream bin (textbooks, hard cover books or notepads, children’s books). Bring them over to our office and we’ll happily accept them separately for recycling, free of charge, whether you have 1 or 100! When you get to our facility, you’ll see the big green public drop bin, NOT HERE! Keep going around the building, past the big truck scale. You’ll see our office doors around to the center of the south side of the building where we will be eagerly waiting with a smile to help you unload your hardcover books and keep them out of the single stream…and out of the landfill! No appointment necessary, just stop by during our office hours M-F 8:30am-4:30pm.

Why not hard cover textbooks in the bin? Hard cover books cannot be properly sorted out by the Sioux Falls recycling process because of the cover and binding which gets stuck in the equipment or worse, might hurt one of our employees.
