Political and Election Signs Are Not Recyclable

Recycling Explained

PLEASE KEEP POLITICAL SIGNS OUT OF YOUR RECYCLING BIN!

After voting, it’s time to retire those campaign signs responsibly! Most political signs are made from durable materials like corrugated plastic or plastic film with metal frames. While this keeps them weatherproof, it also makes them unsuitable for single-stream recycling.

Political Signs Cannot Be Recycled in Your Bin!

These materials require specialized recycling processes. While some agricultural plastic manufacturers can handle these items, we cannot process them at Millennium.

Ways to Keep Them Out of the Landfill:

  • Donate them to the Sioux Falls Outdoor Campus, they can use the corrugated plastic signs for target practice.
  • Return to the campaign. Many candidates can reuse signs in future election cycles.
  • Recycle the metal posts by bringing them to a local metal recycler, such as TJN.

Thank you for helping us keep our recycling process efficient!
