Summer’s End: What NOT to Recycle
As summer winds down, you might find yourself with piles of toys, tools, and other seasonal items that will no longer be used. Unfortunately, due to the mixed materials in these items, most of them cannot be recycled. From inflatables to mattresses, lounge chairs, beach balls, and water wings, all these summer items have one thing in common: They are NOT recyclable. Please keep them out of your Sioux Falls recycling bin.
Our facility only accepts single stream recycling items—anything else is a NO unless you’ve contacted us directly and learned otherwise. If an item can’t be reused or donated, it’s likely destined for the trash.
Items to KEEP OUT of the Recycling Bin:
- Inflatable toys, beach balls, swimming tubes, floaties, inflatable pools, and water wings
- Garden hoses, garden tools, and sprinklers
- Rubber duckies, toy boats, water guns, and other pool toys
- Trampolines, tents, basketballs, and sports gear
- Life vests, life jackets, and foam noodles
Help us keep the recycling stream clean and efficient by disposing of these items properly. If you’re unsure about something, don’t hesitate to reach out for guidance. Together, we can make a difference in keeping non-recyclable items out of our bins!
Check out the BINfluencers for help on where to take odd items for proper recycling or disposal. If you’re still not sure, ask us! We’ll help you find the best disposal option in our area.
